Our Historical Home

Tyler and I got very lucky with our on base housing. At first we weren't sure if we liked it because we are used to modern homes, but once we actually moved in, we absolutely fell in love. Our beautiful home was built in 1904, is complete with hard wood floors in most of the rooms, and two fireplaces (which unfortunately are sealed off but we'll take it!). I'll take you guys on a quick little tour.

When you first walk into our house, the kitchen is the first thing you see. Luckily it is very updated and has lots and lots of storage space and a ton of counter space; every chef's dream! ;)  It was really hard to take a picture of this room, but just so you get an idea there are more cupboards and counter space next to the refrigerator and the other side of the sink.
The next room you walk into from the kitchen is the dining room. It has a beautiful chandelier hanging in the center of the room. This picture doesn't do it justice. Also this room is huge compared to the amount of furniture we currently have to put in it. We only have a table and 4 chairs at the moment. But I'm sure we'll figure out how to take full advantage of the space.

From the dining room, you walk right into our living room. It has two huge built in bookcase and a gorgeous fireplace. This is my favorite room! Also I forgot to mention all of the rooms have 12 foot high ceilings!

Let's take a walk down the hall now shall we... The door on the left is the bathroom, the first door on the right is the basement, the second door on the right is the guest room, and the door straight ahead is our bedroom.

Here's our bathroom. Not much to look at except for that cute chick in the mirror ;)

Next up is our bedroom which is also really hard to take a picture of. It has a secret door connected to the bathroom and a decent size closet.

Here's the guest room/reading room/office. It has another built in bookcase and fireplace. It has a super small closet though so it wasn't going to work for our room unfortunately. Our guests will definitely stay in comfort when they come to visit.

And here is our terrifying basement that looks just like the one in the movie Amityville Horror. I can almost picture Ryan Reynolds going crazy down here. But anywho, this is where I have to do laundry. Slight drawback to the house, but hey you can't have it all.

Finally, we have an awesome screened in porch that has a great view! You can see a little bit of the ocean from our backyard which is really cool. (Also ignore the caution tape. They had just finished painting the stairs.)  All in all, we're obsessed with our house and can't wait to make it a home!
